Delish!

Yesterday, Brian and I attended an impromptu Labor Day barbeque at Josh & Kristen’s. We were tasked with bringing dessert and since we were at my parents’ house and not our own house, I wasn’t sure what to make and didn’t want to bring something store bought. I remembered the lone bag of Granny Smiths on the counter…asked my dad if he’d peel and core them….and decided on a twist to Jayme’s Apple Crumble Recipe….

Apple Crumble

For the filling:
5 - 6 cups sliced peeled apples
½ cup sugar
¼ cup flour
½ tspn cinnamon
½ tspn nutmeg

For the topping:
1 ¼ cups Bisquick
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
¼ cup melted butter
½ tspn cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a pie plate or an 8x8 Pyrex dish or another similar sized oven safe dish.

Combine the sliced apples with the other filling ingredients – stir well until all ingredients are incorporated. Pour apple filling into baking dish.

In a small bowl, mix Bisquick, sugar, egg and cinnamon until combined. Drop crumbles of dough onto the apples until well covered. Drizzle melted butter evenly over crumble.

Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm or cold, with or without ice cream. Yum, yum!
