Riley's Response

Dear Mommy,

I like to wake you up in the middle of the night so we can have our special time when I lick your face and get cozy on top of your legs. I only lay on your legs because I love you more than I love Daddy.

Love,
Your Chicken

I knew that he loved me more!

Dear Riley

Dear My Darling Pup,

I love when you smell good and want to cuddle and are excited to see me when I come home. I do not love when you wake up at 3am and shake your head over and over while your tags jangle about and wake me up. I also do not love when you get on the bed and sleep on my legs in the middle of the night. You have your own bed. Why don't you ever sleep on your daddy's legs?

Love,
Mommy

10th Valentine's Day

This year, on our 10th Valentine's Day together, but our first as a Mr. & Mrs., Brian surprised me with 2 dozen red roses when I came home from work on Friday.....

Then on Saturday (Valentine's Day) before we started painting, we exchanged small presents. Brian got some heart patterned boxers, some Godiva chocolates and a cool tie clip (if those exist!). I got the flowers, of course, some chocolate covered strawberries, some milk duds, a very sweet card and a combo V-Day/B-Day gift - a beautiful strand of pearls.
Later that night, after hours of painting, freshly showered and in our PJs, we cracked open a bottle of vino.
Brian made a gourmet pasta dinner for me - angel hair pasta, a light tomato cream sauce, sauteed shrimp, bell peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh spinach....YUM!!!!!

Here's to you, Brian, My Valentine!

Painting Project #2

This weekend
we painted the stairwell of our house and the upstairs hallway - not as big a project as before, but it still took the better part of a 3-day weekend. The common areas of our house are not all "natural" - a light khaki color. Next project? The bathrooms....baby yellow.

Lucky or Evil?

On Friday night, Brian and I wanted a quick and easy dinner before starting our painting project for the long weekend....

Applebees? Nah...

Outback? Not tonight.

Pizza? No, something healthier.

So we settled on "Souper Salad" which is like a ghetto Sweet Tomatoes or Fresh Choice, but your standard salad bar, soup bar, baked potato bar, etc.
So we drove up there, parked, walked through the front door. I'd never been so I veered towards the cash register (because at similar eateries you pay first) but no one was there and Brian said "let's just get our food" so we thought perhaps we pay at the end.
So, we went through the line, found ourselves a table and then the waitress came by. Surely, she'd ask for our receipt, I thought....Nope, she just took our drink orders.

When we were done dining, we went to leave and once again no one was manning the cash register. We waited for a little bit and then decided it was meant to be - free dinner.

Are we going to hell or did we totally score (mind you, dinner was going to be approximately $15 total for both of us)?

Funny Lil Story

There's been a lot of Valentine's Day talk around the office so I thought I'd share an entertaining story I heard yesterday (hope you don't mind, Katie!)....
Last year, my friend Katie's husband totally dropped the V-Day ball. No flowers, no dinner, no card, etc. Later that week, as a disappointed wife would do, she was quizzing him on what all of his workmates got their wives...and they all sent flowers, got cards, candy - the whole 9 yards.
So then Katie says, "What did they say when you told them you did nothing for me?".....
Drum roll, please, for the most classic answer you've ever seen.......
"I told them I sent you flowers at work."

What a snake! Didn't want to look like a jerk to his boss and co-works, but no biggie on disappointing the wife!
Don't worry - he made up for it this year. Took her to a surprise night on the town last night! Flowers delivered to work, picked her up for happy hour, then took her to a fab restaurant for an amazing dinner.

AI Post #1

Dang it! I really liked Frankie....boooo.

YES! Kristen McNamara is through to the Top 36!!!

YAY! Anoop Dog made it thru, too!

Clean Woofer

There are few things in this world that give a clean, cuddly pup a run for his money.
I love nothing more than sticking my nose in Riley's clean fur after he's dry from his bath.....I can rub him and wrestle and sniff him all day. His Kiehl's shampoo smells so good and makes his fur silky smooth.

Man, I love my dog.

Happy Birthday AKY!

Just over 8 years ago, I met one of my best friends...in my dorm room on move in day at UC Davis. Today is her 27th birthday.
Wish I was in Holland celebrating with her!
Happy Birthday, Andra!!!!

Cupcakes

I got a sweet cake decorating kit for Christmas and finally had the opportunity to bust it out.
Sienna's 30th Birthday (above) and Morgan's 28th Birthday (below)!
I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting for Sienna....and Red Velvet cupcakes with Cream Cheese frosting for Morgan.
