Hot Summer Days

Neighborhood picnic was a success....just ask Riley. He made himself at home in baby Landon's kiddy pool. Ha. Hot days call for extreme measures.

What does Brian really want in a career?

Tonight, at dinner, Brian and I were discussing his career aspirations....about not wanting to work behind a desk forever, etc....

Direct quote from Brian:

"I don't want to have to shave every day. Or wear pants."

Come again?

Bobby Flay: Dream Crusher

I watched a few episodes of "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" this weekend (as you can tell I got to watch a lot of what I want to watch while the mister was out of town). I have seen this show before and generally enjoy it...but tonight I realized it's actually quite sad.

First, Food Network dupes some poor person or establishment, otherwise very well known for their specialty food item, into thinking they're getting a special feature on the Food Network. Then, while they're preparing for their special feature, Bobby Flay shows up to challenge them to a duel - to see who can make the best of whatever their specialty is. He basically says, "Oh yeah, you think you make the best (insert food item here)? I'll show you, sucker".

Bobby Flay wins most of the time (at least from the many episodes I've seen) and I realized tonight that in doing so he is seriously crushing the dreams and pride of his competition.

I officially do not like this show.

Dog and Hat

We took Riley to the Adams County Regional Park earlier today for a hike and a swim - he was a tired boy on the way home. So tired that he let us put a hat on him and take a picture...

Happy Independence Day!

I have no plans today. And it is glorious. I slept in, went for a swim at the gym, took Riley to the dog park, hit up Safeway for a few items....

And in honor of 4th of July I picked up some chicken corn dogs and the makings for peach pie!

Can't get more American that that, can you?

Touche!

Well, after blogging about how lame TLC's new series is...I watched 4 back to back episodes. I still think it's whack, but it sucked me in. Crazy.

New TLC Series...what?

I am home alone for a few days which means I get to do whatever I want....this RARELY happens, so I am digging it.
Tonight, I worked late, picked up my boy from Doggy Daycare, went to Office Depot for labels for Erin's shower invitations, browsed around Cost Plus, went to Target, came home, popped a frozen pizza in the oven and turned on the TV....

TLC has a new series called, "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant"....now I've never been pregnant, but I'm pretty sure TLC should have just titled this series, "I'm a Moron and Now I Have a Kid".
WTF - how do you REALLY get to 37 weeks in a pregnancy and NOT KNOW?!

Alright. I'm done judging. For now.
