Live Footage: Brazil

About halfway through our trip, I remembered my camera had video capabilities! So here are a few clips of our trip.

Iguassu Falls (below)

Tribal Dance in Indigenous Village (below)

Brian touching the ants on the tree - gross (above).

Brian picking up a really big turtle in the jungle (below) - sorry it's a sideways video.

Me and the baby monkey....I look really nasty, but this experience was awesome (below).

Iguassu Falls

Tomorrow morning on a 6am flight (barf) we leave for Manaus with a connection in Sao Paolo. Iguassu Falls was phenomenal. Saw the falls from every angle possible - including from a boat underneath them.

Have approximately 10 bug bites and havent even gotten to the Amazon yet. Fell in love with a snack here called Pao de Quiejo. Little bread rolls filled with cheese, served warm. Have picked up a few phrases/words in Portuguese.

Still seeing super steep wheelchair ramps. Very odd.

Last but certainly not least....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALIA-MAMALIA!!!!

Rio So Far

We are having a blast so far!

A few things we learned/saw in just one day...

- Churros are sold on the street by vendors...mmmmm....but that is not all, they are STUFFED with either chocolate or caramel

- Not too much respect for personal space

- Wheel chair ramps are really steep. Odd. I wonder if they are designed like that to increase wheelchair brake sales?

Scary

Soooooo.....I had put my bottle of 100% DEET bug spray in my toiletry bag earlier this week. Today, I got the toiletry bag out and finished packing it and went to move the bottle of bug spray and it leaked a bit and ATE A HOLE in my toiletry bag.

And I am expected to apply this substance directly to my skin. Sketch-y.

Happy Anniversary!

One year ago yesterday, Mr. Rogers and I said our vows in a beautiful church, surrounded by our fantastic friends and family, followed by an amazing party.

Looking forward to the many more anniversaries to come.

Time to take off and celebrate in Brazil.

I <3 Cards

I was so surprised by how many cards we got for our anniversary - so many unexpected well wishes in the mail. I love cards! I get so excited to see those handwritten, stamped envelopes in the mail! If you ever want to know how to brighten my day...send me a card!

1st Anniversary & Fab Food

On Saturday, Brian and I went to a fabulous restaurant in the Governor's Park neighborhood in Denver - Mizuna. So yummy! We celebrated our anniversary with Lobster Mac N Cheese (same dish that won $10,000 in a Mac N Cheese Food Network Challenge) and Phyllo Wrapped Rabbit Loin appetizers...and Ostrich Tenderloin and Rack of Lamb entrees....followed by Pecan Pie Chocolate Tart and Chocolate Lava Cake.

Ha...

I have seen this product in the store before, but I suppose I never really thought more about it...but today it dawned on me that while I love cheesecake, I think the fact that this product even exists is disgusting. And we wonder why Americans are fat....

Furry Scurry

Today, Riley and I participated in the Furry Scurry in Wash Park - a charity walk to raise money for the Denver Dumb Friends League. 2 mile walk around the park with your dog(s).
There were a ton of fun vendors and free dog stuff - full bags of treats, poop bag dispensers, scoopers, can toppers, etc. We left with a lot of loot.
Here's Riley with his two friends Buddy (left) and Kona (middle). The gentle leader has been AMAZING for our walks - no more pulling.
